The 3rd International Buddhist Research Seminar

The overall theme of the 3rd International Buddhist Research Seminar is “Buddhism: Truthful Knowledge and Quality of Life”. This seminar is organized by the Buddhist Research Institute (BRI), Mahachulalongkrnrajavidyalaya University (MCU), Ayutthaya, Thailand. It is held between the 8th - 10th January 2011.

The main focus of this seminar is to marshal Buddhist scholars and Buddhist researchers around the world onto a unified platform. In doing so, we aim to promote sharing of their academic expertise and findings in the field of the three major Buddhist traditions, namely, Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana.

Phrakhrupalad Suvatthanavachirakhun (Sawai Chotiko), Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs & Acting Director of the Buddhist Research Institute, MCU invited papers, research papers and dissertation papers from various countries around the world. The seminar will cover the following themes:
1) Buddhist Textual Studies,
2) The Teaching of the Buddha,
3) Buddhism and Contemporary Issues, and
4) Buddhist History and Culture.

During this 3-days seminar, over 500 participants will attend from Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist traditions from 22 countries. Over 100 papers in English and 20 papers in Pali are scheduled to be presented to panels. The presentations will then be followed by discussions in which we aim to promote exchange of ideas between participants.
